Kevin MacConnell

Bassist and University of the Arts music faculty member since 1996, Kevin MacConnell
continues to enjoy a busy and diverse career as a freelance musician. He has
performed with such jazz legends as Mel Torme, Nancy Wilson, Billy Ecstine, Joe
Williams and tenor saxophonist, Ernie Watts. In the pop world, he has made national
and international television appearances/performances with Marilyn McCoo, Merv
Griffin, Natalie Cole and opera diva, Denyce Graves.

Kevin is involved in the classical music scene, performing in the bass section of the
Reading Symphony Orchestra and has also performed in recent years with several
members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, in their chamber music series and with the
renowned Philadelphia Boys Choir. He subs with the Philly Pops and the
Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra.

Equally at home in the musical theater world, Kevin has worked along side the late Cy
Coleman while producing his last musical, "The Great Ostrovsky" and with Adam
Guettel (son of Mary Rodgers--grandson of Richard Rodgers) in both Philadelphia
theater productions of his musical "Floyd Collins". He has performed theater
productions in the pit of the Academy of Music, Forrest Theater, Merriam Theater,
Walnut St. Theater and at the PrinceTheater in Philadelphia and is currently a member
of the pit orchestra in the Hershey Theater in Hershey Pa.

Kevin was a featured member of the John Oddo Trio, performing with Debbie Boone
and the Ocean City Pops in a tribute to Debbie's mother-in-law, the late Rosemary
Clooney. He continues to tour the country with a Philadelphia based classical/blue
grass ensemble, "The DePue Brothers Band" which features two members of the
Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as blue grass legends, Mark Cosgrove and Tony
Trischka. Kevin performs regularly with Philadelphia-based jazz icon saxophonist
Larry McKenna, as well as with guitarist Jimmy Bruno, violinist John Blake, and
vibraphonist Tony Miceli and the UArts faculty ensemble, 'Power of Ten' led by former
dean, Rick Lawn. He is also involved with a college concert series 'The Langston
Hughes Project' led by Dr. Ron McCurdy, professor at the USC Thornton School of
Music.

Recent recording credits include; "Profile", Larry McKenna; 'Earth Tones', Power of
Ten; 'Unencumbered', Mark Cosgrove and Director of the Ira Brind School of Theater
Arts, Charles Gilbert's prerecorded productions, "Harold and the Purple Crayon" and
"Sylvester and the Magic Pebble". Also, 'soon to be released' Tony Miceli Quartet
recording entitled, "Can't Find My Way Home" and a new (yet to be titled) Larry
McKenna CD.

Kevin will also be seen and heard on an upcoming episode of the USA network
television drama 'White Collar' entitle the "The Empire City", performing behind
Diahann Carroll, as her character June Ellington sings at the famed Harlem night club
"The Cotton Club"!
